School in Stalinabad [Dushanbe, Tajikistan], Teacher and Students, November 27-December 25, 1932

In this co-educational classroom in Stalinabad, a female instructor teaches students how a scale works, demonstrating the basic concepts of weight and balance. The classroom contains several scales, and the teacher works with a young girl to balance one of the scales while other students watch. While there were differences in the subjects that boys and girls were taught in government supervised schools, such as a required home economics class for girls and metalworking requirements for boys, there were co-educational classes that taught subjects such as math, science, and history to all students.
